4yo colt by Maria's Mon x Taylor's Promise ( Promised City )

Claimed at Delaware Park by Renpher Stable! I've attached the Past Performances. If you scroll to page 13 you'll see what he's all about. On 12/17/02 he arrived at Belmont Park to begin training for his Renpher Stable debut. After several workouts we shipped him to Phila Park to meet a field of $20k claimers which never won 3 lifetime. Needing the race, he showed speed and tired. Our next move was to let him run at Aqueduct for $10k. This time we purposely went 7 furlongs in an effort to cut him back to 6 his next outing. We knew he needed this race also. He was on the lead and looked like he was going to win! As he hit the 3/4 mark Moonmon got tired and faded. We gave Moonmon one more shot at Monmouth where he faded once again. Our next move was to ship him to Penn National. We felt that he could get the lead going long. Sounds crazy but it worked! He won his first start by 10 1/2 lengths. He came back and made it two in a row winning wire to wire in consecutive starts!

Moonmon was a pretty nice 2yo. He won his first time out in a top of the line Maiden Special Weight race. They thought enough of him to enter him in a 75k stake race. He had the lead into the stretch and ran 4th. Next time out he lost to Just Le Facts a pretty nice horse at Monmouth. Three more stake races and poof, a long layoff. Obviously he had a problem. They bring him back for $25k, he shows speed and tires, needing the race. His next time out, on 7 days rest they run him again for $12,5. That is when we took a shot and claimed him.

In 2003, Moonmon won 4 races in 12 starts for Renpher Stable!
