Wantagh Hammer

Wantagh Hammer is a good sized filly which still has some room to fill out. We had our eye on this horse at last year's Fasig-Tipton sale in Timonium. On April 16, 2005 Renpher Stable claimed her at Penn National. She's a daughter of Jules by Mr. Prospector, out of a Cox's Ridge mare. We pulled out our research data from last year's Fasig-Tipton at Timonium. Her mom, the Cox's Ridge mare Antique Amber, has six babies. All not only raced, but won. WH has a full sister by the name of Amber Jule (I like this name a whole lot better then WH). Amber Jule has 4 wins in 16 starts. Her best effort coming at 7 furlongs. Last year Shuman/Gill claimed her for $25k at Pimlico. From a "nicking" perspective, Sons of Forty Niner w/Cox's Ridge mares produced the following: 37 ..... runners Ms. Hammer has raced four times. All four times she drew outside post positions. In her second start, she overcame the "9" hole at Charles Town going 4 1/2 furlongs. She sat off the leader drawing clear to win by 3 3/4 lengths in a Maiden Special Weight event. We look forwrd to watching her progress under the watchful eye of Les Stickler Jr.
